Hand-Finished Lakota Natural Buffalo Hide Drum – 14” x 5” (37 cm)
(Includes natural style beater)
This handcrafted Lakota-style hoop drum is made following traditional ceremonial practices, created with intention, prayer, and deep respect for the spirit and medicine of the buffalo.
The drum is crafted with natural buffalo hide, known for producing a slightly deeper, warmer, and more resonant tone than other hides. It is hand-laced over a birch hoop, offering exceptional strength, balance, and durability.
Each drum is uniquely decorated with a hand-painted traditional Lakota hunter, inspired by Ledger Art, a historic Plains artistic tradition that tells stories of bravery, movement, and connection to the land.
Our drums are made in the Lakota / Plains tradition, featuring the classic four-direction lacing system. This design allows for a comfortable, secure grip, making the drum ideal for extended use without fatigue.
These ceremonial drums are intentionally tied very tight, allowing them to:
Maintain tone in both dry and humid environments
Withstand prolonged and intentional use
Resist cracking, crushing, or loss of resonance over time
Uses:
Hand-held Native American hoop drums are ideal for drum circles, shamanic and energy healing, meditation, personal rituals, sound journeys, and ceremonial work.
These are the finest drums we make in terms of sound quality, structural integrity, and longevity. Built to last, they are not only musical instruments but sacred tools—created to accompany prayer, healing, and connection for many years.
